How We Clean Carpet

Our cleaning is superior. Why? We perform Hot Water Extraction which is the method carpet manufacturers recommend. With Hot Water Extraction, after a thorough vacuuming a hot detergent solution is sprayed on the carpet at high pressure (300 to 500 p.s.i.) and then extracted along with the soil.

Two Common Concerns

There are two common concerns with Hot Water Extraction but it’s not the method it’s the technique of the operator. The first common concern is that it leaves sticky soap residue that attracts soil. That’s because most carpet cleaners buy the strongest cleaning solution they can find and they use that everywhere they clean. What’s right to clean a dirty, greasy restaurant carpet is overkill for normal household carpet. Master’s Touch uses a cleaning solution that is about the same strength as the average laundry detergent. It provides excellent results without leaving sticky residue behind.

The second common concern about Hot Water Extraction is that it leaves the carpet too wet and it takes too long to dry. Well again, it’s up to the operator to make an extra pass over the carpet to extract any excess moisture. The carpet should be damp to the touch not wet. We use fans during cleaning to give the carpet a jump-start on getting dry.

Pre-Treating Carpet is Overrated

Many carpet cleaners talk about how they “pre-treat” the carpet before cleaning. What usually follows is a water only extraction rinse. Once you apply water to pre-treated carpet you dilute the cleaning solution thus reducing its cleaning power. Also, one pass of the extraction tool across the carpet and all the of cleaning solution is removed. Now all that’s cleaning is hot water. We meter the cleaning solution into the water at the machine which means every drop of water that hits the carpet has cleaning solution in it providing superior results.
